Ballet of Jewels

Recently this beautiful couple came dancing into my life. This is a set of Ballerina and Ballet Dancer brooches produced by Marcel Boucher.  I found him in the box of jewelry first and then, to my surprise, his lovely partner was there too.  Marcel Boucher produced a series of Ballet jewelry in 1949 titled "Ballet of Jewels" and below is the original advertisement for this lovely couple and their other dancers.  Marcel signed and numbered his fantastic designs so there are patented drawings available, like the one below of the male dancer, which identify the pieces exactly.   These vintage beauties carry Boucher's oldest and most sought after Phrygian cap mark and they are in MINT condition.  This pair is available on my ebay site. Now a little bit of information about this vintage Jewelry Designer for you:  Marcel Boucher was in business between the years of 1937 and 1971. He was born in France and trained with Cartier.  Boucher jewelry is known for quality rhinestones and is almost always found in good condition because it was so well made. Jewelry marked BOUCHER is more valuable than jewelry marked MARBOUX and is usually of higher quality. The earliest Boucher mark is an “M” and a “B” in a Phrygian cap, which is an ancient helmet. These pieces were produced from 1937 to 1949.
